So I just got back from a 2 1/2 week family vacation. I haven't been on a family vacation since I was like 12 years old. Unfortunately my one brother and his family couldn't go but my parents, and my oldest brother set out to see the the National Parks.
To give you a little background, My oldest brother Lincoln, when he was younger had seizures from the time he was 5 years old until he was 33. Because of some awesome doctors at Mayo Clinic, they were able to do surgery and remove the scar tissue on his brain that was causing him to have seizures. He hasn't had a seizure since but still he is mad that God gave him the seizures and really doesn't (I thought) have faith at all. This has caused great friction between myself and him. He doesn't understand why I would want to go to church much less work at a church, and I can't understand why he is so mad at God.
Well on this little vacation(Which we happened to drive over 6100 miles) we stopped at Crater Lake in Oregon. If you have every been to Crater Lake you know it is absolutely beautiful. Which Lincoln and I were looking out over the Lake which in the middle of a mountain and was caused by a volcano, Lincoln says, "God sure worked overtime when He made this place!" This really caught me off guard.
"You mean you do believe in God?"
"Yeah, I believe in God, I am just upset for what He has done in my life. That doesn't mean that I don't believe in Him. I am just not happy with God right now! But we can always be in awe of His creation! And when you see something like this, how can you not believe there is a God!"
I guess I just needed to take time to listen to him and he then took time to listen to me.
