For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.
My frame was not hidden from you whenI was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book
before one of them came to be.
-Psalm 139:13-16
As many of you know, each week in church you are handed a "Taking Faith Home!" pamplet. As I was going through this sheet at home, I thought it would be very cool for me to do some of the devotions or share some of my answers from the worksheets with all of you. I have also asked other youth board members to share some of their stories. So please stay tuned to see their answers. Please let me know if you would like to have one of your answers posted.
This week's pamplet asked - "Philip looked for Nathaniel and brought him to Jesus. Who has brought you to Jesus?"
For me, there are a number who have brought me to Jesus. I think there are times in our lives where we walk away from Jesus and there are people who bring us back to Jesus. Let me share with you one person who really bought me to Jesus.
A lot of you know that I grew up on the same farm as my grandparents. My Grandma Matter was a woman of faith. I would spend the night at her house and she would pray with me every night. She was the one who taught me the Lord's Prayer.
As I grew up, she would tell me that she was praying for me. There were days that we would have coffee/milk talk that she would share her faith with me and how wonderful it was to have something to believe in. She explained to me how when things got rough, she always turned to her faith. She also made sure that I knew when things were going well, she also turned to her faith.
My Grandma Matter was an amazing woman. I am proud and humbled that I was her granddaughter. I pray that I can one day be the person who helps people come to Jesus just like my grandmother did so well.
Jesus, Son of God, give me the faith to follow you. Amen.
